    Needle Art Exhibit

    View the handiwork of local needle artists exhibited in the rooms of Fort Hunter Mansion.  Participating guilds include Apple Needlepoint Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild, Molly Pitcher Stitchers, Susquehanna, Nittany ValleyYork White Rose and Lancaster Red Rose chapters of the Embroiderers Guild of America.  The needle works will be on display from May 6 through June 17 and can be viewed on a tour of the Mansion, during museum hours, regular admission charged.  Demonstrators will be on hand on Saturdays May 12 – June 16 and during Garden Faire on May 6.  Discounted group tours are available and can be arranged by calling 717-599-5751.     Susquehanna Folk Music Jam Session

    SFMS Jams are enjoyable afternoons of homemade acoustic music. Everyone who loves making music or listening to it, regardless of age,  performers or non-performers, beginners to experts are welcome. Folk music is at its best when made by hand and shared among friends — so drag that ukulele out of the closet and join in!  Bring instruments, ears, voices, and (if you wish) snacks to share. Copies of song words and/or guitar chords help others play and sing along.    Free

    Needle Art Tea

    Enjoy a tea, a talk and a tour.  Begin the afternoon  with a chat with Kathy Weigl, regional director of the Embroidery Guild of America,  as she moderates a “fashion show” of needlework techniques, using the pieces in the show as the examples of the world of needlework and the wide variety of beautiful art which can be created by needle and thread.

    The program continues with an afternoon tea consisting of homemade scones, tea sandwiches (cucumber and ham salad), fresh fruit, fancy cake, blackberry parfaits and unending cups of tea.    The afternoon will conclude with a tour of the needle art exhibit in the Mansion.  Handiwork of local needle artists represent Apple Needlepoint Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild, Molly Pitcher Stitchers, Susquehanna, Nittany Valley,  York White Rose and Lancaster Red Rose chapters of the Embroiderers Guild of America.

Light refreshments are available for purchase to benefit the Friends of Fort Hunter.  In case of rain, the movie will be shown inside the Centennial Barn.  Free
