    The 2018 Friends of Fort Hunter annual fundraising event includes a new, fun and localized twist – a farm-to-table experience. On the front lawn of Fort Hunter Mansion overlooking the river, as the warm summer day winds down, attendees will enjoy locally-sourced, homemade dinner offerings, (click here for a sneak peek at the menu, subject to change), along with local brews by Boneshire Brew Works, wines by Olivero’s Vineyard and live acoustic music by RiverRat Jenkins. Be amazed with sleight-of-hand tricks by David Peka.  Patrons will be hosted prior to the dinner, at 5 p.m., Dinner-only begins at 6pm.  Tickets Patrons $150 and up, $60 dinner only guests

    Archaeological Excavation

    See state archaeologists unearth evidence of 1700s military and settlement life as well as objects from prehistoric Indians. For the twelfth season, Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission staff will search for evidence of the 1750s French and Indian War fort. Weekdays 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (plus Sun. 9/16)  Free

    Dauphin County Jazz & Wine Fest

    Join us for the 12th anniversary of the Dauphin County Jazz & Wine Festival at beautiful Fort Hunter Park as we welcome national, regional and local recording artists. The Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz will host Friday night’s entertainment! Browse among some of Central Pennsylvania’s top wineries and a fine gathering of wine, craft and food vendors. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic baskets. Outside alcohol is not allowed. Continued on Saturday and Sunday September 8 and 9. Weekend Pass $50 in advance, $60 at the door.

    Fallingwater and Flight 93 National Memorial Bus Trip

    Join the Friends of Fort Hunter for a scenic bus trip through Laurel Highlands fall foliage.

    *Tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater                                       *Savor a delicious buffet lunch at the historic Stone House Inn   *Visit the Flight 93 National Memorial

    The trip will leave promptly at 7AM from the Fort Hunter east parking lot where cars will be safely parked throughout the day.  After the tour of Fallingwater, you’ll have time to explore the property and visit the Museum Store.  Back on the bus for the trip to the Stone House Inn for a scrumptious lunch and then on to the Flight 93 Memorial where there will be time to visit the Visitor Center exhibits and Memorial Plaza.

    Ticket price includes Fallingwater admission, lunch, transportation and driver tip.  Members $112.50   Non-Members $125.  Click here to reserve your seat online or send a check made payable to Friends of Fort Hunter , 100 Fort Hunter Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Everyone who loves making music or listening to it, regardless of age,  performers or non-performers, beginners to experts are welcome. Folk music is at its best when made by hand and shared among friends — so drag that ukulele out of the closet and join in!  Bring instruments, ears, voices, and (if you wish) snacks to share. Copies of song words and/or guitar chords help others play and sing along.    Free
