Preview the new Downton Abbey clothing exhibit before it opens to the public! Begin the afternoon with an illustrated talk by Dr. Donald Koones entitled “The American Answer to Downton Abbey” highlighting Marjorie Merriweather Post (of the Post Cereal fame) and her Washington D.C. home, Hillwood. The talk will be followed by high tea consisting of tea sandwiches, homemade scones and sweets and unending cups of tea. The afternoon will conclude with a preview visit to the clothing exhibit, “Downton Dressing:Fort Hunter Fashions of the Downton Abbey Era” featuring clothing from the Fort Hunter collection from the 1920s, season 3, 4 and 5, of the popular television series. $30 per person, $25 members.
