    Howl-O'Ween: Pets at Fort Hunter

    Fort Hunter Park

    Visit with Libre the rescue puppy as you celebrate the household pet at this free event.  Participate in a pet and owner costume parade at 2:30p.m. and small doggie races throughout the day. See a sheep herding demonstration, take pictures in the pet photo booth, shop at craft and pet product vendors, see animal rescue groups and learn about the monkey, parrot and dogs that lived at Fort Hunter.  For kids paint a pumpkin, play pumpkin tic tac toe and cornhole.  Have you or your pet drawn by a caricature artist and have your face painted.  Enjoy the Steppin’ Woofs dancing dogs demonstrations at 12:30 and 2 p.m., purchase a $10 Friends of Fort Hunter membership for your dog and savor a tasty treat of franks, animal themed snacks and beverages for sale.     Free

    Susquehanna Folk Music Coffeehouse

    Susquehanna Folk Coffeehouses are intimate Saturday evenings showcasing Central Pennsylvania’s fine amateur acoustic musicians. Cabaret seating and tasty refreshments create an informal coffeehouse atmosphere in the cozy, rustic barn. Check the calendar for more coffee houses this season!

    Enjoy live acoustic music and an attentive, music-loving audience. Sales of refreshments benefit Susquehanna Folk; donations to defray costs are always welcome.   Free, information at www.sfmsfolk.org

    Susquehanna Folk Music Jam Session

    SFMS Jams are enjoyable afternoons of homemade acoustic music. Everyone who loves making music or listening to it, regardless of age,  performers or non-performers, beginners to experts are welcome. Folk music is at its best when made by hand and shared among friends — so drag that ukulele out of the closet and join in!  Bring instruments, ears, voices, and (if you wish) snacks to share. Copies of song words and/or guitar chords help others play and sing along.    Free

    Homeschoolers' Day

    A workshop about regional Native American Indians! Students in grades 2-6 and their parents love this hands-on workshop and the tour the Fort Hunter Mansion.   The visit, including time for a bag lunch, runs just under 4 hours.  In the 1 ½ hour workshop students will focus on how Indians obtained food, shelter, clothing and equipment, including exploring a wigwam, hands on activities and games. Program is also offered on Thursday, April 19. Pre-registration is required, call 717-599-5751.  Admission $5 students, $3 adults

    Annual Festival of Trees, sponsored by Harrisburg Area Civic Garden Center, Inc. View six beautifully decorated Christmas trees decorated by local garden clubs on display.  Raffle tickets are available for purchase to vote for your favorite tree, you might be the lucky winner to take home a fully decorated tree! Open Saturdays and Sundays 12:30 – 4:30 through December 16.
