    Park Rx: Let EVERYTHING Go

    5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

    Fort Hunter Mansion

    Join instructor Erika Malorzo from CommUNITY Yoga space for a fun mindfulness program on the beautiful grounds of Fort Hunter Park.   Find what feels good to you with mindful movement. In this class, you will breathe, stretch, and gently move in and out of yoga postures.

    Classes will be held outdoors on the West Lawn area beside the Mansion with a view of the river.  Rain date is Tuesday, May 18, participants will be notified via email if the rain date will need to be implemented.

    • Participants should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.  Dress for the weather, if it is cooler, bring a sweatshirt. 
    • You may also want to bring a water bottle.
    • Bring a yoga mat or towel
    • Please wear a mask until you are seated and distanced from other participants

    This class is being offered as part of the Park Rx series of programs sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield. 

    You may sign up for one session or all the sessions, it’s up to you!

    $5.00 per person, per class

    You will be asked to accept a waiver to attend this class.  If the participant is under 18 years of age, the waiver should be accepted by the parent or guardian.

    Historical Tree Walk

    Join a Naturalist for a leisurely walk around Fort Hunter Park & Mansion. Learn one method for aging a live tree and some historical facts about these large giants. Masks & social distancing required. Meet in front of the Mansion, rain or shine.  Pre-registration required.  Free

    Park Rx: Sound Meditation

    Fort Hunter Mansion

    Join instructor Josh Maurer from CommUNITY Yoga Space, for Sound Meditation on the east lawn of Fort Hunter Mansion.

    Sound Meditations are open and accessible to all who are ready to relax and listen deeply. They will include conversations around sound, followed by breathing exercises, guided visualizations, vocalization, and a soundscape including a gong, singing bowls, chimes, and other overtone emitting instruments. This experience creates space for deep relaxation, calming of the mind, and empowering positive change within oneself. Rain Date, Sunday, May 23

    $5 per person per class

    Participants should:

    • Bring a yoga mat or towel
    • A bottle of water
    • Wear comfortable clothing and footwear
    • Please wear a mask until you are seated and distanced from other participants

    Additional session on Wednesday, June 23 (rain date June 24) on the Fort Hunter Mansion west lawn. You may sign up for one session or both sessions.

    Park Rx: Art Heals with the Susquehanna Art Museum

    Fort Hunter Park

    Join the Susquehanna Art Museum and Instructor Nancy Mendes in making art that can serve many purposes: releasing tension, meditation, expressing emotions, and helping you to connect with yourself.  Experiment with color mixing and define the meaning of individual colors in your own life. Does red or purple express anger? Is green about envy and jealousy or money? It’s all up to you! Relax and enjoy the experience.

    The class will take place outdoors, in the East Pavilion (barn side.) In the event of inclement weather, it will move to an inside location. All materials will be provided.

    This is class is part of the Park Rx series of programs sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield.  Thank you to Highmark for helping us make this affordable and accessible for everyone.

    Participants should:

    • Come dressed in old clothing or bring a painting smock as the paint will stain if it comes in contact with clothing and footwear.
    • Bring newspaper or plastic for their trunk or car so they can transport their artwork home while protecting their vehicle’s interior or trunk from paint that may not yet be dry.

    $5.00 per person, per class

    Sunset Series - Susquehanna Chorale in Concert “Through Love to Light”

    Every Friday night between June and August, Dauphin County Parks and Recreation is teaming up with Capital BlueCross and Renewal by Andersen, to present free musical performances or a free movie, outside, under the stars in beautiful Fort Hunter Park.

    Wine, Craft Beer, and Distilled Spirits will be available for purchase showcasing some of the best products from across the state. Sip your favorites as you also enjoy a fine gathering of craft vendors with unique items for every style.
