The Board of Trustees for Fort Hunter
Museum Collection Policies
The Board of Trustees for Fort Hunter is entrusted with the care and management of the museum at Fort Hunter. This includes buildings and artifacts.
The mission of the museum is to interpret the history of Fort Hunter through its artifacts and relate it to the history of the region, the state, and the nation.
Because the existing Fort Hunter collection is very site specific the responsibility of any additions to the collection is far-reaching. The Trustees must manage their limited resources carefully.
The Board of Trustees only adds items to the museum collection that pertain to the history of Fort Hunter, its lands, its buildings, and its occupants.
When offered donations outside of this collection policy every effort is made to steer the prospective donor to the appropriate collecting institution.
If you have an object/document that fits these criteria that you wish to donate, please send the relevant information and photos to the Fort Hunter Park Manager Jessica Webster at jwebster@dauphincounty.gov to present at the next available Board of Trustees Meeting. Please be advised that the Board of Trustees meets quarterly.
