Please arrive at the front porch of the mansion at your ticketed entry time.
The Mansion is wheelchair accessible on the first floor with advance notice. Please call ahead to make arrangements, 717-599-5751.
Group tours are available by reservation. Please visit our “Private Adult Group” page for more information.
There are no public restrooms in the Mansion. The nearest available restrooms are located near the west parking lot.

Reservations are not available during Garden Faire (05/03/2026) or Fort Hunter Day (09/20/2026) but walk-ups are welcome as space allows; the Mansion is closed to the public on the day of the Victorian Tea (12/06/2026), but tea participants do get to see the Fort Hunter Mansion as part of the event.
The Mansion is closed on holidays and from December 24 through April 30.

Children’s Mansion Tour Explore the Fort Hunter Mansion in a whole new way! Children will help their “Aunt Helen” prepare to host a party by completing small tasks throughout the tour while the adults learn a little history about the stately home. This brief tour is perfect for families with small children that aren’t quite ready for our 45-minute family. This tour is offered several times throughout the season
Family Mansion Tour During this interactive tour designed for children and families, learn what life was like for the families that lived in the Fort Hunter Mansion from the late 1700s to the early 1900s. You will walk through the mansion’s rooms and learn about their different uses, learn about objects of their everyday life, and do some hands-on activities. This tour is best suited for the young (age 6-12) and young at heart who want to have fun and enjoy learning. The mansion tour is approximately 45 minutes, includes games, and a visit to the museum shop. This tour is offered several times throughout the season.
McAllister Cemetery Tour
For those that have visited Fort Hunter Mansion previously or those familiar with the McAllister Family history, this walking tour offers a rare glance at a space few visitors visit: the McAllister Family Cemetery. This tour leaves from the garden adjacent to the Tavern House, taking visitors approximately 1 mile from the park across uneven ground. Please dress appropriately for the weather with sturdy walking shoes. This tour is offered seasonally.
McAllister Cemetery Combo Tour Join us at the Mansion to learn about the McAllister family and the beautiful building they called home. After a brief comfort break, the group will take a walk to the McAllister Family Cemetery, approximately 1 mile from the park. The cemetery portion of the tour will take visitors through a tunnel and across uneven ground, so please dress appropriately in sturdy walking shoes. This tour is offered seasonally.
Macabre Mansion Tour
Join us after hours for a tour of the historic Fort Hunter Mansion as we explore taboo topics from mourning etiquette to hair jewelry. This is not intended to be a scary or haunted tour of the Mansion, but rather an opportunity to dig up the history of customs and practices that have since been laid to rest. This tour is offered select evenings in October.
Candlelight Mansion Tour
Enjoy a 45-minute tour of the Historic Fort Hunter Mansion as the halls are decked and the mantles trimmed for the holiday season. This candlelight tour will include holiday traditions of years long gone as you travel from room to room. This tour is offered on select evenings in December.
